Subsidizes the costs of health checkups for pregnant women, postpartum women, hearing tests for newborns, and health checkups for one-month-old babies at the parent-teacher's home or other destination (reimbursement payment)
Reimbursement for Prenatal Health Checkups
Overview
If you have a prenatal checkup at a medical institution or midwifery clinic outside the city, such as when you return to your hometown, and are unable to use the Fukuoka City Prenatal Checkup Subsidy Voucher, and have to pay the cost of the checkup yourself, we will subsidize part of the cost of the checkup. However, there is a limit to the amount of the subsidy. In addition, only the costs incurred for the health checkup items that are recognized as publicly covered are eligible. The subsidy will be transferred to the designated account you applied for.
Those eligible for the prenatal checkup subsidy
Anyone who meets all of the following criteria is eligible to apply for the Prenatal Health Checkup Subsidy.
- Those who were unable to use the Fukuoka City Prenatal Checkup Subsidy Coupon when undergoing a prenatal checkup at a medical institution outside Fukuoka City.
- Those who were registered as residents of Fukuoka City at the time they underwent a prenatal health check at a medical institution outside Fukuoka City.
*Those who have moved out of Fukuoka City to another city, ward, town, or village at the time of application are also eligible to apply. - Those who have used subsidy vouchers from Fukuoka City or other municipalities 13 or fewer times when undergoing prenatal health checkups at medical institutions outside Fukuoka City.
However, the grant is not available in the following cases:
- Prenatal checkups taken after moving to a municipality outside Fukuoka City or before moving to Fukuoka City
- Prenatal checkups after using Fukuoka City subsidy vouchers 14 times (19 times in the case of multiple births)
- Expenses for tests etc. covered by health insurance (those for which the self-pay rate is not 10%)
- Examination before issuance of maternal and child health handbook
- Consultations outside Japan
Application method
Please bring the necessary items and come to the Health Section of the Health and Welfare Center in your ward.
Application date
Within one year from the date of birth, etc.
Example: If your birth date is August 1st, the application deadline is July 31st of the following year.

Reimbursement for Maternity Health Checkups
Overview
If you have undergone a maternal and child health checkup at a non-implementing medical institution (within Japan only), such as outside Fukuoka City, and have paid for the examination yourself, and you meet the necessary requirements, you can apply for a subsidy (reimbursement payment). However, there is a limit to the amount of the subsidy. The subsidy will be transferred to the designated account you applied for.
Those eligible for the maternity checkup subsidy
Anyone who meets all of the following criteria is eligible to apply for the Maternal Health Checkup Subsidy.
- Those who have undergone a maternal health checkup at a medical institution other than those commissioned by Fukuoka City (limited to within Japan)
- Those who are Fukuoka residents on the day of the maternity health check
- Those who have given birth within 8 weeks
- Those who have undergone all of the following health checkups:
If you do not receive any of the items, you will not be eligible for the grant.
- Interview (living environment, breastfeeding status, childcare concerns, history of mental illness, medication history, etc.)
- Examination (uterine recovery status, lochia, breast condition, etc.)
- Weight and blood pressure measurement
- Urine test (protein/sugar)
- Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale
However, the grant is not available in the following cases:
- Health check-ups taken after 8 weeks of childbirth
- Expenses for tests and treatments covered by health insurance (those for which the self-pay rate is not 10%)
- Baby check-up
- Medical checkups taken outside Japan
Maximum subsidy amount
5,000 yen per maternity health check-up (up to 2 times in total)

Reimbursement for Newborn Hearing Screening
Overview
If you have had your newborn hearing tested at a medical institution outside Fukuoka City (within Japan only) such as your hometown, and paid the cost yourself, you can apply to receive subsidies (reimbursement payments). However, there is a limit to the amount of the subsidy. The subsidy will be transferred to the designated account you applied for.
Eligible persons
- Parents of babies who had a newborn hearing screening within 90 days of birth
- The baby's mother or the baby's resident registration is in Fukuoka City (not applicable if subsidy has been received in another municipality)
Maximum subsidy amount
AABR test (Automated Auditory Brainstem Response test) 5,000 yen
OAE test (otoacoustic emission test) 3,000 yen

Overview
