Q: If I delay my new application for child allowance, can I receive it retroactively?
If you delay your new application for child allowance, you will not be able to receive it retroactively.
In principle, benefits will be paid from the month following the month of application. However, if you become newly eligible for benefits due to a birth or moving into a new city, you can receive benefits from the month following the month in which the birth or moving into the city occurred if you apply within 15 days of the event.
For more information, please contact the child-rearing support department of your ward office.
