We conduct health checkups to accurately understand the health and developmental state of infants and young children, and to help them grow up healthy both physically and mentally.

Requests for health checkups

  • If your child, family member, or close friend has a fever, cough, or other symptoms that concern you, please contact the medical institution you scheduled the checkup with (we may ask you to reschedule the checkup date).
  • Please cooperate with infection prevention measures such as hand disinfection.

What to bring on the day

4-month-old baby health check

[Notice] Health check-up for 4-month-old infants

・Health checkups for 4-month-old infants were previously conducted at health and welfare centers, etc., but the method of examination has now changed so that the checkups can be taken individually at medical institutions within Fukuoka City.

Eligible persons

A 4-month-old child with a resident registration in Fukuoka City and their guardian

  • Individual notifications will be sent to those who are eligible.
  • You can receive medical treatment from the day you receive the notification from the city, but if possible, try to receive treatment within four full months.

  • You may need to make a reservation, so please inquire at the medical institution you plan to visit.
  • Recommended time to visit: 4 months after birth (up to the day before 5 months after receiving notification from the city)
    Example: For a child born on January 1th, May 10th to June 5th
    *If it is past the recommended time for a consultation, please consult a medical institution.
  • There is no charge. (However, medical expenses covered by health insurance are not covered.)

About detailed examination for 3-year-old children

If the results of the 3-year-old infant health check indicate that more detailed testing is necessary, a referral letter will be given.
Please bring the referral letter and undergo an examination by a specialist (medical expenses for detailed examinations are free of charge in principle).
*If you take the test after your child turns 4 years old, you may be required to pay the cost of the test yourself.

Health check-up for 5-year-olds

We conduct health checkups for five-year-olds, a crucial period for motor skill development and psychological/emotional development, to support the healthy growth of your children.

Eligible persons

Children who are registered residents of Fukuoka City and will celebrate their 5th birthday during the 2026 fiscal year (born between April 2, 2021 and April 1, 2022)
