Target person

Those who meet the following three criteria are eligible.

• The expected birth date of the child eligible for application is between October 25, 2025 and January 21, 2026.
• Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2026, the deadline for first-stage applications (November 7, 2025).
• It can be confirmed that the person was born by December 31, 12.

Points to note

However, even if you have applied for use before giving birth, the following people will ultimately not be eligible for use adjustment (selection):
(1) If the expected date of birth was December 31, 2025, but the baby was born on or after January 1, 2026
　*To use licensed childcare facilities in Fukuoka City, children must be at least three months old (born by December 31, 12).
(2) If the expected delivery date is between January 1, 2026 and January 21, 2026, and the baby is born on or after January 1, 2026 as planned

• Application status confirmation sheet
• My Number (Personal Number) Declaration Form
• Documents showing the need for childcare ("Information on using Fukuoka City childcare facilities in 2026(brochure pages 13-15)
• A copy of your maternal and child health handbook (cover and page showing expected birth date)
• Pledge and consent form for application to use prenatal childcare facilities

Important points to note when applying

• Even if your child was born by December 31, 2025, if you do not submit a post-birth notification by the deadline, you will not be eligible for the first adjustment on April 1, 2026. If you then submit a post-birth notification by the second or third application deadline on April 1, 2026, you will be eligible for the second or third adjustment (selection).
• If the notification of birth is not submitted by the third application deadline, the child will not be eligible for the usage adjustment (selection) on April 1, 2026, and the results of the usage adjustment (selection) on April 1, 2026 will not be notified. If the notification of birth is subsequently submitted by each application deadline for mid-year admission in fiscal year 2026, the child will be selected for an admission date on or after April 11, 2026, for which the child meets the age requirements.
• If you find out after birth that your child has an illness or other condition that makes it difficult for them to attend group childcare or daycare, be sure to contact the Childcare Support Division of the ward where your first choice of childcare facility is located.If the childcare facility is unable to prepare to accept your child, your decision to use the facility may be cancelled or put on hold.
• If you apply for an unborn child and its siblings at the same time, the handling of the priority arrangement for siblings at the same facility cannot be changed, even if the unborn child is not selected or the application is withdrawn.

Frequently asked questions about prenatal applications

Q1. Is it possible to apply before birth if I am making a second or third adjustment for an application made on April 1st or applying mid-year?

First adjustment of application for use on April 1, 2026Applications for use of childcare facilities etc. before the birth are accepted only in the case of April 1st applications, secondary and tertiary adjustments, and applications made during the fiscal year.

Q2. Why are the expected due dates of eligible children between October 25, 2025 and January 21, 2026?

• Birth notifications must be submitted within 14 days of birth, so in consideration of the burden on parents of children born two weeks or more before the first application deadline of submitting paperwork, we allow applications for use before the birth of a child up to two weeks before the first application deadline.
• According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's "Overview of Statistics on Births in 2021," taking into consideration that over 93% of all births occur at full term (37 to 41 weeks and 6 days), applications are accepted even if the expected date of birth is up to January 21st of the following year. However, only those who give birth early and are born by December 31st of the previous year will be eligible for the April 1st usage adjustment.

Q3. How can I visit a childcare facility before my baby is born?

Please consult with the childcare facility you wish to use, such as whether you would like to visit the facility in advance while you are pregnant, or whether you would like to only receive an explanation of important matters while you are pregnant and then visit with your child after they are born.
