1. Overview of the benefit

(1) Purpose

Maternity support benefits are paid as support benefits for pregnant women with the aim of reducing the physical, mental and financial burden on pregnant women during the pre- and post-natal period and contributing to improving the health and welfare of pregnant women and their unborn children.

For those who have given birth or are due to give birth on or after April 7, 4After certification of pregnancy benefits and notification of the number of fetuses, pregnancy support benefits will be paid (there are no income restrictions).

(2) Payment requirements (eligible recipients)

Pregnant women who have a resident card in Fukuoka City and meet any of the following criteria:

*If you have received the same type of pregnancy support benefit from Fukuoka City or another municipality, you cannot apply again.

*If your pregnancy did not continue due to a miscarriage or stillbirth, or if you had an induced abortion after April 1, 2025, you may also be eligible for the benefit.

(3) Amount of benefit

①First payment (when you notify us of your pregnancy): Cash payment of 5 yen per pregnant woman
②Second payment (before and after childbirth): Cash benefit of 1 yen per pregnant woman and per fetus

To apply for benefits, you must be certified as a maternity benefit recipient by Fukuoka City. Please complete the application form below.

The first payment application must be submitted together with the pregnancy benefit certification application using the same form (application steps 1 to 3 below).

For the second payment, you can apply from 8 weeks before the expected date of delivery using the application form below. (Application Step 4 below)

4. Documents required for application

5. Application Deadline

6. Payment of benefits

(1) Decision on payment of benefits

• We will check the details of your application and pay the benefit to your designated account.
• It generally takes about one to two months from application to payment.
• Depending on the submitted documents and the content of your application, it may take some time to review your application.

(2) How to check payment status

• You can check the status of your application and the status of your payment decision from My Page.
• Certification and payment notices will be mailed to those who requested them at the time of application.

8. Consultation support

About consultation support for all pregnant women and child-rearing families (accompanying consultation support)

Public health nurses and midwives at each ward's child and family center will provide support to pregnant women and families raising children.

When notifying pregnancy

Pregnant women are interviewed, given information on how to spend their pregnancy and what to expect until birth, and are then issued a Maternal and Child Health Handbook.

Eight months pregnant survey

This question is aimed at women up to eight months pregnant, and will be provided at the same time as the notification of the fetus, so please respond.
Midwives and public health nurses will interview pregnant women and their families who wish to be interviewed, and provide advice to help them give birth and the postpartum period without anxiety.

After birth notification

Until the baby is four months old, we will visit all households with infants and conduct interviews to provide advice on postnatal health, the baby's development, and child-rearing.
We will provide ongoing support to all families, including by providing necessary information and services related to child-rearing, and working with related organizations.

We regularly monitor families with children aged 0 to 2 and provide diapers and other items free of charge.

10. For obstetric medical institutions

• Pregnant women are certified by the pregnancy notification, so the city will not generally require pregnant women to submit a doctor's certificate as part of the support benefits for pregnant women. However, in cases where a certificate is required, it is expected that if a woman has had a miscarriage or induced abortion without notifying the pregnancy, the city or town will not be able to confirm the facts, and if the woman visits a medical institution at some point and the doctor is able to confirm the fetal heartbeat, the city or town will be asked to issue a certificate from that person.
• Regarding the notification of fetuses, we will check the Maternal and Child Health Handbook, Pregnancy Health Examination Subsidy Coupon, etc., so basically the city will not ask pregnant women for a doctor's certificate as a support benefit for pregnant women. However, it is expected that a certificate will be issued in cases where multiple fetal heartbeats are confirmed but only one birth is registered, and the person in question will request a certificate stating that it was a multiple birth.

11. Please be careful of "bank transfer scams" and "personal information theft."

The city of Fukuoka may contact you at your home or other location to inquire, but they will never ask you to operate an ATM (automated teller machine) or request that you transfer any fees or other charges for the payment.
