I'd like to know more about Waiwai Hiroba (a project to create play areas for after-school activities, etc.).
WaiWai Hiroba is a project that uses elementary school grounds and other areas to create spaces and opportunities where children can leave their school bags behind after classes are over and play and be active freely and safely, without having to go home.
The aim is to foster children's independence, social skills, creativity and communication skills through play and activities, and to promote their healthy development both physically and mentally.
In Fukuoka City, after-school play areas (commonly known as Waiwai Hiroba) have been established at 143 elementary schools (as of April 2025).
